Surprise 70th Birthday Party

A couple weeks ago we surprised my mom with a fun 70th birthday celebration!  My very clever dad planned a dinner cruise for her with us family and some of her closest friends.  And the best part was it was a surprise!

We organized the event through Waterways Cruises and booked the Destiny cruise to have our own private party of 20 for drinks and dinner.  Dad thought up the whole thing and it was perfect!  It was a gorgeous summer evening as well and the cruise went around Lake Union, through the Montlake cut and around Lake Washington.  It was about a 3-hour cruise total.  Luckily Ryan captured the perfect photos from the evening:

So many wonderful friends of my parents' were there.

 And of course my dad being the poet and writer that he is, wrote a very special poem for my mom for the occasion.

A delicious dinner of steak, salmon, chicken, risotto, salad, bread and mini cheesecakes for dessert.

We couldn't be more grateful to have such a loving and generous mom.  It was wonderful to feel all the love in the room for this amazing woman.
