Ollie is 3 years old! Part of me feels like I can't believe he's only 3--feels like we've had him forever. And the other part of me can't believe he's 3 already. But what a gift he is to our family. Steady, sweet, constant companion. He is such a great dog and really brings so much joy to our household.
I read through the post from when he turned 2 and actually so many of those highlights are still descriptive of him today. As I said he is steady and consistent. But here are a few things to remember or highlight from this point:
- He is still my constant shadow--he follows me around in the house or sits close by as I'm doing things waiting for me to sit on the couch so he can come cuddle with me and be my companion. He still likes to do his stick but we're to the point where he'll really only do it if I'm holding it. Sometimes he'll do it with James but not for very long.
- He mostly gets 2 walks per day--one in the morning and one in the afternoon. We've really loved walking the trails in the woods. And we also like to do a long walk up to the Ironwood neighborhood. It's a good one to tire him out.
- He still goes to the Farm with Sno Valley Dog Co. twice a week and loves it. He is very tired when he gets home from all the play and socializing and he goes straight to his crate for a nap. Lizz and Johnny are amazing dog trainers and friends and we're so grateful for them. Ollie just loves them!
- At night and for naps he mostly sleeps in the crate by my bed. He still sleeps with Cameron for awhile though when first going to bed.
- We had our first grape incident this year where a grape accidentally dropped on the ground and he ate it. Grapes are toxic for dogs and hurt their kidneys. We went straight to the vet and they helped him vomit it up within 15 min. Luckily we got it quick and there was no damage.
- Ollie tells us when he wants to play by going up to his ottoman or drawer that holds his toys and standing by them just waiting for someone to notice and play with him. It's hilarious! He loves to play fetch with two tennis balls and play fetch/tug of war with squeaky stuffed animals.
- Ollie is a pro snuggler and lounger. He's so calm and chill. Sleeps a lot during the day now. And likes to find cozy little spots to sleep like on top of my bed, in his crate, in a closet, between two pillows on the bed, etc.
